H. G. McLoughlin is a US author currently working on her debut novel. She grew up in Connecticut but frequently spent time in the mountains of Vermont, on the coast of Rhode Island, and riding horses in New York.
She attended college in Florida with the intention of working with marine mammals, and after graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, she spent seven years building relationships with bottlenose and rough toothed dolphins, seals, and sea lions.
During this time, she also discovered a passion for traveling, and it was during her first trip to Ireland in 2021 that the writing bug bit her. As she flew over the sprawling green hills and grand cliffs of Éire, she envisioned not leprechauns, but dragons.
Shortly after that trip, she returned to school and obtained a Masters of Science in Anthrozoology, and her love of human-animal relationships blossomed into a new career in teaching and writing.
Now, H.G. spends her time educating the next generation of animal caretakers and fulfilling her love of writing and lifelong learning as she pursues her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and her PhD in Anthrozoology.
In her limited free time, you can find her nose deep in the newest fantasy release, spending time with her two horses, or brainstorming her next novel—without neglecting the two on the way, of course.
