I am a plotter, not a pantser, so whenever I get an idea for a new work, I spend a significant amount of time jotting down my ideas and then creating a skeleton framework for the story.
Only once I have a sound outline that gets me from the first page to the closing image do I begin to write.
While I do enjoy the organizational aspect of writing, my characters often do go “off script” so I lovingly refer to my outlines as a guide, rather than a rule!
I am currently a fur mom to 8 kiddos—Two dogs, Pavlov (a Pembroke Welsh Corgi) & Freud (a Golden Retriever), Three chinchillas (Nesta, Hunt, and Percy), an orange tabby cat (Milo), and two horses (Cian – A knabstrupper, and Casper – A sport bred Appaloosa/Quarter Horse cross)
At the moment, I am working on two fantasy novels set in the same world but at different points in the timeline and from the perspective of two different characters. While I don’t want to give too many spoilers, you can expect plenty of sword fights, magic, and of course, dragons!
While many things inspire me, two of the biggest inspirations for my current novels are Ireland and Irish Celtic culture—which have given rise to many of the settings and lore of my stories—and the relationships I’ve been fortunate to share with my animals, including the marine mammals I spent many years working alongside.
